This boutique luxury lodge is New Zealand owned and operated. There is a distinctly Kiwi feel inside with an impressive collection of local artwork and furnishings including host Robyn’s own paintings.  

Atahuri was designed by renowned Waiheke Island architect Ron Stevenson, whose brief was to build a luxury lodge that blended with its environment. Privacy was an important factor and this is achieved with the seaward facing suites all stepping up slightly from each other.

Atahuri offers bed and breakfast, with dinners by arrangement. Meals typically include New Zealand fresh fish and lamb, seasonal fruit and vegetables with plenty of gourmet offerings from the Kapiti Coast.

Suite descriptions

HAREKEKE

This is our honeymoon suite which looks out towards the Tasman Sea and Kapiti Island. A private edible garden courtyard tucked away in the dunes that catches the suns first rays and provides that much needed shade later in the day is another added feature of this suite.

OIOI

This suite also looks out towards the Tasman Sea and Kapiti Island. As with Harakeke, guests can choose to sit in the private outdoor patio or garden courtyard, depending on the time of the day.

KAKAHO

This suite has views of Kapiti Island and is immersed in the dunes. Nothing could be more soothing than being lulled asleep by the sound of the sea.

SPINIFEX

This twin suite is immersed in the dunes and offers two super king single beds, luxurious ensuite including a bath for two, spacious lounge area and private outdoor patio. This suite is the closest suite to the main building.

Private, luxurious, and a touch of beachside chic

Nestled in the dunes each guest suite has a private entrance and has been designed with luxury, comfort, and privacy in mind.

The feather duvets, fine linen and heavenly baths for two create the perfect sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation after a day exploring the Kapiti Coast!

Each of the four guest suites offer a super king bed, luxurious ensuite, spacious lounge area and private outdoor patio. A flat screen TV, DVD player with iPod connection, WIFI internet access, coffee and tea making facilities, mini snack bar, fridge, security safe, iron and ironing board and beach towels are also provided along with bathrobes, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.

Outdoor patios are decked out with loungers, squabs and huge beach cushions. A great spot to catch the sea breeze and watch the sun turn pink, then red and finally orange as it sets behind Kapiti Island.

The combination of louvers and an overhead fan provide that much needed breeze in summer and for those chilly winter months there is under floor heating.

Tariff includes full breakfast and complimentary bottle of wine on arrival.

Located just one hour drive north of Wellington central, Atahuri is nestled in sand dunes at Peka Peka beach, between Waikane and Te Horo.

Getting to and from Atahuri:

• Wellington Airport – 90 minutes south.

• Paraparaumu Airport – 10 minutes away with direct flights to/from Auckland.

• Wellington’s Inter-islander Ferry – One hour drive south.

• Waikanae Train – 15 minutes away – Train takes 1 hour from Wellington.

We provide courtesy transfers to and from the train station or local airport.

DRIVING FROM SOUTH 

Follow SH1 until you reach Waikanae. From Waikanae it is 4kms to the Peka Peka Beach sign. Turn left into Peka Peka road. Follow the road to the beach and then turn right into Petawa North road. This road turns into Pingao Lane once you have entered Tasman Lakes.

DRIVING FROM NORTH  

Follow SH1 until you reach Te Horo. From Te Horo it is 7kms to the Peka Peka Beach sign.

Turn right into Peka Peka Road. Follow the road to the beach and then turn right into Petawa North road. This road turns into Pingao Lane once you have entered Tasman Lakes.
