There are so many activities and attractions within the Kapiti Coast area you’ll need to stay with us at least two nights. 

Kapiti Island

Right out in front is one of New Zealand’s most significant nature reserves, located in a marine reserve. The Maori family who live on the island offer visitors genuine Maori hospitality and unique nature experiences. They offer a full day tour including lunch,  morning and afternoon teas. You can stay overnight and go kiwi spotting, or just go for the day and take a guided walk. There are different walk options for different levels of fitness.  The 15 minute ferry ride to the island departs daily around 9am and departs Kapiti Island around 3pm.  Bookings are essential and we are very happy to arrange this for you.

Waikanae Estuary Bird Tours

More species if coastal and aquatic birds visit Waikanae Estuary than any other site in the Wellington district. Approximately 63 specialised birds visit the estuary at times, many of which may be seen in their natural habitat.

Nga Manu Nature Reserve

10K Te Araroa Walking Trail – Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay (4hrs)

Starts at Paekakariki this costal escarpment reaching 220m above sea level where walkers enjoy spectacular views. Not for the faint hearted, you need to be reasonably fit and not suffer from vertigo. Most walkers train back from the end of the trail in Pukerua Bay and then treat themselves at one of the cafes in Paekakariki.

Ohau Wines

Visit the tasting room and take a stroll amongst the vines. Ohau is an exciting new vineyard who is producing award-winning wines with intense fruit flavours. 

Tuatara Brewery

This brewery has been going 12 years and produces 8 different beers some of which are award winning. Guided tours are available and introduce visitors to the brewing process from start to finish and is followed by a beer tasting.  Check website for brewery tours.

Southward Car Museum

Southwards is a renowned world class car museum filled with over 350 vehicles, motorcycles and aircraft. The car museum's collection includes Marlene Dietrich's 1934 Cadillac Town Cabriolet, a 1915 Stutz Indianapolis race car, gull-winged Mercedes-Benz, a 1950 Cadillac "gangster special" that belonged to gangster Mickey Cohen and an 1895 Benz Velo, imported to New Zealand in 1900.

Beach Treks on Horseback

Come out and have a blast! We are based in Waikanae close to the best beaches and parks for blokart sailing. As the activity is wind dependent, we do not operate when wind strength is not sufficient to give you a good experience, so contact us before you just turn up.

Anyone for golf?

Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club

This course is regarded by many as one of the greatest links course in the southern hemisphere.
The course has ranked as high as 71 in the world and played host to Tiger Woods ranked No.1 in the world when competing in the 2002 New Zealand Open.
